New sponsor for the Under 17s state team

Dear readers

The WA Under 17s team have found a new sponsor for uniforms thanks to the good work of Sok Teoh.

The new sponsors are http://www.maxx.com.my/html/ which is a Malaysian based company.

This is the first time we have not been sponsored by Li Ning. Good luck and good wishes to Maxx for the promotion of their products in Australia.

I am sure Maxx will do well in Australia.

Hopefully they will also sponsor the Under 15s, 19s and senior teams.

Good luck to the players who leave during Easter to fight for glory.

My wife Annie was just commenting that this is the first time in 3 years that she is spending Easter in Perth as she has been away with Tyzton for the last 3 Under 17s comp.

Coach Joseph has been working hard training the team.

Knowing the team needs money to cover their expenses, I managed to sell 14 cartons of Refresh water to P and P Brothers who have always been a great help for the state team with their sponsorship. That should pay for their petrol for the trip.

Good luck guys,

Our Bella, will she get the Under 17s singles and doubles title like she did on the Under 15s nationals?

The Presidents Cup

Dear readers

As customarily, the outgoing State team take on the team selected by the BAWA President for a last match before leaving for the tournament.

I am sure the Under 17s state team players are excited. The most excited will probably be young Alicia Xu in her first state team and at less than 14 years old.

I understand the State team played at Armadale and gave a fighting performance but were unable to beat the older President's team. The coach Joseph Too was happy with the team performance. This is Joseph's first coaching of a WA state team. The players' parents have been most supportive.

We wish the team the best for when they leave during Easter for the nationals.

Good luck team and play hard.

The 2015 Under 17s State Team

Dear friends and readers

Yes, we are back at the Under 17s again. This time I have no vested interest as my son Tyzton Tan is too old for the team. Alas, how fast they grow.

However, as usual I have been asked to continue blogging what the new Under 17s team is doing.

I am not even sure as I am getting sketchy updates on their wechat sites.

I understand the team comprises of:

YingXiang Lin our Under 15s triple crowner and team member of the history making bronze winning 2014 state team.
Kai Chen Teoh, Under 15s National doubles winner.
Jasper Tan who was in the history making Under 17s team last year winning team bronze.
SunYee in his 2nd state team.
Jason in his 2nd state team too.

Bella Liu our Under 15s National singles and girls doubles champ and also member of the history making Under 17s 2014 bronze team.
Gerimay Nicholas, our ladies Under 15s National doubles champ and mixed doubles runner up last year. She was the mixed doubles national champ in the Under 15s in 2013. She was also in the Under 17s bronze team last year.
Louise Bradford in her 3rd state team.

Alicia Xu in her first state team.

The coach is Joe Too from Malaysia doing his first state gig. Good luck to him. I hear he is very dedicated in his coaching.

Donna Dewitt is the manager or manageress. Donna has played in several state teams herself and also owns a few national medals as a player.

The team will be playing the Presidents Cup this weekend at Armadale. Hopefully lots of photos will come through for the blog.

Till we meet on Sunday, good night.

Raymond Tan
