Dear readers
Will update everyone after dinner which will be at restaurant as the players have tried so hard. Tomorrow's game is at 3 pm. I think we play NSW 1.
Today was a real roller coaster ride against NNZ 2. The scores came to 8/8. Kay told us while Ed and Julia were playing their last game that WA would lose even though the score was 8/7 in our favour.
They both played their best and even came up from 6 pts down at matchpoint to reach deuce. However, they could not win the deuce to get a 3rd set.
All the players thought we had lost on pts as Kay said we needed to win the last game. The players looked so dejected and so did Annie, Yuli and I. We were out of the medal hunt. Annie was sitting on the chair looking real dejected and I was packing up saying the dream had gone.
Coach was saying this was more stressful then her world games.
Kay then told the team to huddle and cheer NZ. While we were huddled together, she told everyone we had won on pts.
The players , coach, umpire and chaperone all screamed in joy.
Kay had tricked us hoping Ed and Julia will try harder.
The sense of joy was as if we had won gold already. What a pleasant surprise.
It was decided the players deserved a good dinner outside. Photos will be added.
Tomorrow will be an even tougher day.
The kids have played their hearts out already today. This was especially true for Geri May who was playing with an ankle that was hurt.
Olivia also played her heart out. Infact all the players gave everything they had. Do they have any more petrol in the tank?
These are just kids and they get to experience all these emotions.
By beating NNZ 2, we kept the dream going for a medal.
This has been the tightest game we ever fought and won. WA has lost battles like this before and lost out on a medal, just by a set. Is this time going to be WA's lucky run?
Keep watching the blog for updates.
